2* MEMPHIS -28.5 over Richmond
Richmond is still a very young team with two freshman and two sophmore guards. Against Maine, one of those freshman (Kevin Anderson) was running their point for 25 minutes, and that does not bode well against the veteran backcourt and pressure of Memphis. Richmond had twice as many turnovers as assists (18-9) in their opener versus Maine, and those turnover numbers will be even higher in this game as Memphis forces them to play at a higher tempo than they prefer. Yes, Richmond plays outstanding defense, but they are truly out-classed here today and their defense is only good when they play at their pace. Note also that Memphis has much more talent off the bench, so even in a blowout I do not expect the Spiders to climb back in for any backdoor cover. Instead, the bench should be able to widen the lead. Go ahead and lay the number....Memphis should win by 40.
